About Dajana

I was born and raised in Colonie, New York, but my family is originally from Albania, a small Eastern European country.

Growing up I always had a passion for helping others. Throughout my education, I always enjoyed science and biology classes, so once I graduated from high school, I decided to pursue a career in nursing.
Throughout nursing school, I was able to shadow and do clinicals on various nursing units and I found my passion in the pediatric population. In my final semester of nursing school, I was fortunate enough to be granted an internship which I completed on the general pediatric floor at Albany Medical Center, where I was then offered and accepted a full-time nursing position.
I have been a pediatric nurse for 7 years and working as a pediatric nurse has been one of the most challenging and most rewarding things I have ever done. Children amaze me every day in their abilities to handle different stresses and fears all while doing so with a smile on their face. I love being the voice for my patients and advocating for them when they can’t do so themselves.
While working as a pediatric nurse, I knew I wanted to further my nursing education because I wanted to be able to do more for my patients. I then went on to pursue my Master of Science in Nursing in Pediatric Primary Care degree at Stony Brook University. Children are a vulnerable population, and I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to make sure children were being heard and cared for. I also enjoy offering support and guidance to families when able.
When I am not working, you can find me spending time with my husband Dillon, or with our family and friends. I enjoy relaxing at home reading or trying out new and different recipes. I also enjoy taking our dog Lucy out for walks and hikes in the nice weather. My husband and I also love to travel and experience new things together. We recently went to Italy for our honeymoon and I hope to be able to continue to check off places off of our bucket list with our future family someday!
