Latest Practice Updates:

Flu vaccines are available.

+ Call to schedule a flu vaccine appointment.

+ Everyone six months of age and older is eligible for a flu shot during the flu season.

+ Children younger than eight years old who have not received a lifetime total of at least two flu shots are recommended to receive two flu shots during the flu season, spaced one month apart.

We ordered but have not received 2025-26 covid vaccines. We recommend them for all eligible patients.

+ We have been administering covid vaccines since they were first available. This year, we will administer Moderna vaccines, since only their vaccine is approved for patients younger than five years old.

+ There are differences between the CDC and FDA recommendations. This can affect health insurance coverage. We await clarity about whether insurers will pay for the shots.

+ We endorse the American Academy of Pediatrics and New York State Department of Health recommendations that doses should be available for all children ages six months to twenty three months, older individuals with increased risk of illness following covid infection, and all others who want them.

+ Since we do not yet have the vaccines and also lack clarity on insurance coverage, we are unable to schedule covid vaccine visits at this time. We will update this space as we have additional information.

RSV antibody shots are available for eligible patients.

+ RSV season is October through March.

+ RSV antibody is approved as a single dose injection for all infants who are younger than 8 months old at the time of the injection.

+ Infants whose mothers received RSV vaccine before the last two weeks of the pregnancy are protected by maternal antibodies and are not eligible for this injection.

+ Data show the shot reduces RSV pneumonia by 70% and hospitalizations from RSV infection by approximately 90%!
