Vaccines for Children Six-Months to Five-Years of Age

Covid vaccines are now authorized for children six months of age and older.

Delmar Pediatrics has pre-ordered Pfizer vaccine for our newly eligible patients. The Pfizer schedule for children in this age group is a three-dose series. The second dose is given three weeks after the first. The third dose is given eight weeks after the second dose.

We will schedule patients in the age group once we have the vaccine in hand. We hope to start vaccinating this week.

We are excited that this youngest group of patients will now be able to be vaccinated against Covid. We will do our best to meet the demand and to vaccinate as many patients as soon as possible.

Until now, the Pfizer vaccine has been the only vaccine authorized for children. Our practice has been administering Covid vaccines to all eligible patients since the beginning. Although Moderna was also recently authorized by the FDA for the youngest age group as a two-dose vaccine series, our practice at present will only offer the Pfizer vaccine.

Important Message Regarding Covid Testing at Delmar Pediatrics

Dear Delmar Pediatrics patients and families:

As Covid cases due to Omicron surge, federal and state health departments are modifying their recommendations. In response to evolving regulatory guidance and to ever-changing school requirements, we are adapting how we practice to ensure we are continuing to provide the best care for our patients.

Our office serves important roles such as delivering preventative care, vaccinating against infectious disease, and evaluating acutely ill patients. All of these aspects are vital and are best done by our providers, who know you and your children.

While we are also testing for Covid in our office, many patients are contacting us for the sole purpose of obtaining a Covid test. This results in fewer appointment times available to patients who need our skilled care. As local testing sites and home antigen tests become more readily available, we encourage our patients to make use of these options, freeing up our providers to meet the needs of patients who require medical attention in addition to testing.

YOU MUST WEAR A MASK WHEN ENTERING OUR OFFICE

• Only 1 (one) parent or guardian accompany each patient.

• Please continue appropriate social distancing while in our office.

• At the present time, no one should be seated in the waiting room. You will be brought immediately to an exam room after our reception staff checks you in or asked to wait in your car until an exam room is ready.
